Description:
Friends sharing our enjoyment of food and cooking
This is a semi-private community for a group of friends (and friends of friends) to post about food and cooking. It's intended as motivation and a resource for expanding our knowledge, experience, enjoyment, or confidence of or around food. The only thing we specifically don't want to see people posting about is anything relating to weight loss, weight gain, or body hatred. There are other places you can post about that sort of thing. The original shall-we-do-this post is here, and a few quick notes on the initial setup of the community are here.

If you haven't cooked much before and want some easy recipes to start with, or if you just don't feel like doing anything complicated right now, try our easy or quick and simple tags. We also have some tags for particular dietary needs: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free. You can also view all the community tags.

Please don't request to join this community unless you already have friends here (plural, i.e. more than one friend, and preferably people you know offline as well as online). If you do not have at least two members of this community on your friends list and visible on your profile, please message sashajwolf before submitting a membership request; otherwise, your request will be rejected without comment. However, you don't have to join the community in order to add it to your friends page, or to comment on posts, and you are welcome to do either or both. Click here to add Snake Soup to your friends page without actually joining.

If you post a long poll, please put it behind a cut. If you post large photos, please put all except one behind a cut. The photo outside the cut shouldn't be wider than 600 pixels, to avoid messing up people's friends pages. If in doubt, put them all behind the cut.

We sometimes do challenges: see January challenge, February challenge, March challenge, September challenge, October challenge, and fruit challenge.
